JANUARY 2026 SESSION
Hidden in Plain Sight: Human Trafficking Awareness for the 9-1-1 Professional

In recognition of Human Trafficking Prevention Month, this session equips 9-1-1 professionals with the skills to identify one of the fastest-growing and most hidden crimes in the nation. Despite increased awareness, human trafficking often appears subtle, disguised, or overlooked. Telecommunicators are frequently the first—and sometimes only—lifeline for victims.

This training explores key indicators, red flags within calls, and the subtle cues that may signal a trafficking situation. Drawing on insights from Polaris and real-world case examples, the session provides guidance on how to recognize potential trafficking, prioritize victim safety, and support law enforcement efforts. Participants will leave better prepared to see beyond the obvious, trust their instincts, and potentially save lives by identifying what others may miss.

INTRODUCTION
