About the Event

November 2026 SESSION

When a critical incident shakes a 9-1-1 center, the impact doesn’t end when the call disconnects. How an agency supports its people afterward can determine whether the event becomes a catalyst for growth or a source of long-term harm.
Part 2 of this two-part series explores how organizational culture shapes the recovery process — emotionally, operationally, and collectively — following difficult or traumatic calls.

This session examines the “aftermath effect”: how communication, leadership behavior, psychological safety, and team norms influence resilience and workplace well-being. Using real-world scenarios, it highlights what healthy cultures do differently to help teams process, learn, adapt, and support each other long after the incident is over.

Participants will leave with strategies to foster a culture that not only survives adversity but grows stronger because of it.

Key Outcomes

  • Understand how organizational culture influences emotional recovery after traumatic or high-impact calls

  • Learn practices that promote psychological safety, trust, and collaborative healing

  • Identify leadership behaviors that support staff after critical incidents

  • Explore how to turn difficult events into opportunities for learning and improvement

  • Build cultural habits that strengthen long-term resilience and team cohesion
